SelfPublish new feature: Keywords
In the publishing process, hitting the “publish” button seems like receiving a medal after running a marathon. That’s it! Your book is available for readers and you can’t wait for them to get their hands on your book and start discovering word after word.
One problem: how will your readers actually find your book in the sea of books available online?
This is where metadata comes in. What’s metadata you ask? Well it’s all the data (no surprise here) about your book (no surprise either, I guess); Meaning all the information that your book carries outside of its core content: title, author’s name, cover, synopsis, author’s biography, categories, keywords….
This is why we are working on our publishing platforms to allow you to manage those metadata the best way. We just added keywords there and here is below how you can use them. Reminder, it’ll work for a new book that you publish or to update a book you already published with us!
If it’s an update of your already published book, don’t forget to hit “update publication” when you’re done.
Your keywords will be featured in book stores supporting them, such as Amazon. This means, for instance, that it may help your book on the titan Prometheus to be found when a reader types “greek mythology” in his search for a book.
If you want to learn more about book metadata, I’d advise reading the Sellbox “Optimizing eBook metadata guide” that you can get here signing up to their mailing list.
